The very first IIHA event to occur will be the signing of your team's franchise player. Anyone and everyone who has a rating according to the portal website is up for grabs. Unrated players (i.e. John Tavares and co.) are NOT available, rather they will be available in the prospect draft which will commence after the roster player fantasy draft has completed.
The franchise player signing will take place over a period of 48 hours. During this time, each GM will e-mail the IIHA Player Agent (iiha.agent@gmail.com) and put in A SINGLE OFFER on A SINGLE PLAYER of their choosing.
The agent will accept offers on behalf of the players, based first on yearly salary and second on years offered. (Note: Offer an older player a very long deal may have significant ramifications when it comes to your salary cap.) Also, it wouldn't be a bad thing to send a brief summary as to why you are interested in acquiring the player's services. Sometimes kind words can go a very long way.
The e-mail format should be somewhat as follows:
E-Mail Subject: Player's Name and Your Team Name (Alex Ovechkin - NYR)
Player's Name: (Alex Ovechkin)
Team Name: (New York Rangers)
Contract Offered: (4 Years, $8.8M/year)
Thoughts: (Alex, we feel you are exactly the type of player we need to build a successful team around. You've got the total package and we are certain you are the franchise player we need to succeed.)
Refer to the Financial Rule section for the maximum yearly salary, and maximum number of years in the deal. All offers must be within reason. Example, don't expect to get the 20th best player in the league for 500K per year. The agent will laugh in your face and quickly dismiss you.
For your own good, become very familiar with the financial aspects of this league before you make your offer. Although the player you bid on will surely be star quality, you don't want to throw around too much money. Really think about each offer you make.
