At any point after the original entry draft, undrafted prospects who have been eligible for a draft in previous years are available to be claimed by your team. In past years, Jonas Gustavsson, Fabian Brunnstrom and co. would have gone through this process.
To avoid an excessive number of prospects on a team or two, a prospect auction will be held for each and every prospect that you wish to sign. If you discover a prospect and no one puts in a bid, the prospect is yours at no cost. Otherwise, all money from the auction is transferred to your pocket.
If the team who originally found the prospect wins the auction, the money will evaporate into the depths of time.
The minimum bid on any prospect is $250 000, and all bids afterward must increase by at least 10%. Thus the minimum second bid would be $275 000 (250 000 x 10% = 25 000; 250 000 + 25 000 = 275 000).
This is not to say that all bids increase by $25 000. You are required to do the math before each bid.
All auctions will last at least 24 hours from the time that the prospect is posted within this board. After the 24 hour time period, the auction will only end when a new bid has not been placed within one hour of its predecessor. And to prevent late night / early morning robbery, auctions can only end between the hours of 9:00 and 23:00.
If no one bids on the player, the claiming team will pay a fee of $200 000 for the player.
Complex? Yes; but it is fair nonetheless.
Teams may put in a claim on a maximum of ONE player per month. This includes buying and selling, but not unsuccessfully bidding. Thus each team can be involved in a maximum of one prospect transaction per month.
